Bring your Tweets into the conversation with the new Twitter and HipChat integration
We know you love HipChat integrations, and we’ve been listening. We’re really excited to introduce you to our new Twitter integration and we hope you’ll love it!
You will be able to keep up with the latest conversation about your brand, product, campaign or service. With the new Twitter integration, it’s easy to pull in information for @usernames, #hashtags or text searches to any HipChat room. The best thing about having Tweets in your rooms is that you can have a discussion about them, in context – your entire team stays up to date! Tweets also become part of your room history, which means they’re searchable and that they’ll appear on all of your devices.
The Twitter integration works with both Cloud and Server versions of HipChat (we announced HipChat Server last week!).
Here’s some ideas to get started
We’ve been using it for a wide range of things, and are excited to see what you use it for!
- Creating “Product Feedback” rooms to see what people are saying about HipChat
- Development team rooms are listening to feedback on things they’re working on
- The marketing team monitors their campaigns and sees the latest Tweets
- One HipChatter even uses it to stay updated on the local train service
Other things we’ve thought you might use it for (although, the list is really endless!):
- Keeping up to date with the latest updates on libraries and frameworks
- Watching the latest updates from conferences
- Make sure your support team is in the loop – listen to feedback and support requests
- Monitoring the status of services like AWS, Heroku and many more!
Here’s how it works
If you’re ready to go, get the integration here and follow the steps! The HipChat Twitter integration can be installed on a per-room basis, and you can use a different Twitter account per room.
Any Tweets that match your configuration will automatically show up in your room
The integration will perform a search every few minutes (abiding by Twitter’s rate limits), and those Tweets will show up in that room. Try it out and have fun with it!
You can also paste Twitter URLs in any room or 1-1 chat
Okay, we admit it – this is already an existing feature, but it’s worthwhile highlighting in this blog!
